Overview

Pho Com Tam 168 Vietnamese Cuisines, located at 1018 Gerrard St E in Toronto, offers an authentic taste of Vietnam with a modern twist. Specializing in classic Vietnamese dishes, the restaurant's standout is the House Special Beef Pho, a rich, aromatic broth that balances depth and freshness. For those seeking variety, the Roasted Chicken and Pork Chop Fried Egg on Rice presents hearty flavors rooted in traditional cooking, while the Leaf Wrapped Beef Spring Roll provides a unique, textural contrast that invites curiosity.

The menu’s diversity is impressive, covering everything from comforting congee options like Seafood and Blood Pudding Congee to vibrant Bún Nước varieties such as Bún Riêu Cua and Bún Bò Huế. These dishes reflect the regional richness of Vietnamese cuisine, combining delicate herbs, bold spices, and fresh greens.

Visitors often note the friendly staff and spacious seating, making it welcoming for families, groups, or casual diners. The atmosphere leans toward practical rather than extravagant, focusing on delivering quality food over ambiance. This approach suits a diverse clientele—from those craving a quick, satisfying lunch to those who enjoy lingering over a deep bowl of pho or a plate of rice with grilled pork and shredded beef.

Customer reviews highlight several strengths: the pho maintains a solid, flavorful base that stands out in Toronto’s competitive Vietnamese scene. The Deep Fried Bean Curd Shrimp offers a distinctive texture thanks to its shrimp paste wrapped in a crisp bean curd sheet, a dish that sets Pho Com Tam 168 apart. Meanwhile, classic appetizers like pork spring rolls and rice flour rolls add familiar, comforting layers.

Though some diners mention minor inconsistencies with rice texture or pricing, most appreciate the freshness and portion sizes. The restaurant proves especially appealing for those who value authenticity and variety without sacrificing approachability. Vietnamese iced coffee and hot tea complement the meal, rounding out the experience with traditional beverages that cleanse the palate.

All told, Pho Com Tam 168 is a reliable destination for those seeking genuine Vietnamese flavors in a relaxed, community-oriented space. It stands as a noteworthy option in Toronto’s local Vietnamese culinary landscape, blending tradition with subtle innovation.

Another good Vietnamese option in the Leslieville area. Pho Com Tam offers a unique fried Bean Curd Shrimp. It's a shrimp paste fried with a sheet of bean curd on the back. Good flavor with a unique texture. The grilled chicken and sausage is good but not the best in the area. Rice was a little hard for my liking. Pho is solid, bringing its own twist to the classic soup base. Staff is friendly and seating is spacious.

Pho and spring rolls are good, similar to many Vietnamese restaurant! The deep fried tofu is good also! The service is nice but the atmosphere is rather generic.

Very different from what I’m used to because they prepare shrimp in different way (where they mash it or blend it and form squares) but other than that the food was decent but a little over priced. I ordered shrimp rolls and chicken wings as appetizers & beef stir fry as my main course and my company had fried shrimp with chicken, rice and an egg. She said her dish was 3.5/5 & I would say 4/5 but the shrimp was 1/5. I spent 93$ on everything including 3 drinks.

I highly recommend this establishment for both vermicelli and pho. The prices are competitive, the items are fresh, and the portions are substantial. I can comfortably consume it for both lunch and dinner. The soup is exceptionally tasty, being simple yet packed with flavour. We also enjoyed the rice and grill pork and beef. This was a delightful experience.
